Fish report from South West Rocks 26/12/16
Firstly a big thank you to our holiday makers who have found us at our new location along with our fantastic locals for their continued support.
After 2 weeks of solid North easterly’s we are finally getting some decent conditions to get out there. The bad news has been the Mackerel are scattered and the water just now is starting to warm up and get some nice colour about it. There has been the odd Snapper and Pearl Perch off Grassy and up to Scotts. Out Wider there have been some cracker Dollies around the FAD over the last week in some crappy conditions. Most of the action has been around Fish Rock and Green Island with good King Fish being boated. Bonito are in numbers in front of the Jail while Slimies and Yakkers have been hard to find.
The River is fishing well with good numbers of Flathead coming in. Whiting are biting on Worms and Nippers and various surface lures. The Break Wall has been the hot spot with Kings coming in and feeding with the tide and don’t be surprised if you see the odd Cobia along the wall. Jerseyville Bridge is holding some fair Schoolies around the pylons. Around Clybucca, Bream and Whiting have been haunting the oyster racks. There has been some cracker Bream off the walls and watch out for those Forktail Catfish they will test your Bream gear.
I think the most productive beaches are Smoky and Gap with some really nice Whiting and Bream coming out with the odd sand Flathead.
Take care on the Bars
