Fish Report From South West Rocks – 05.02.16

Right now we are in the best run of Mackerel we have seen for a few seasons. Spotted Mackerel are going off at the moment with most sessions producing a bag out off the grounds around Grassy Head. Live baits are in good numbers but they are taking Pilchards like lolly pops. The numbers of Spanish are not as big but there are quality fish amongst them with the best reported at 29 kilo. Sharks are all over the place waiting to snatch your catch. Small Blacks are in the mix from the Gaol down to Fish Rock. Wahoo are starting to show up with most caught off Fish Rock. Yellow Fin are also down south and around the 5 kilo mark. A trip out to the FAD should get you some Dolphin Fish.
The river is fishing well for good Flathead and Bream with a few hook-ups on the elusive Mangrove Jacks. Along the Break wall on the south side King Fish are coming in with the tide and biting on medium Poppers around Jew Bite. There has been a few Jew off the Wall and around the Jerseyville Bridge.
Whiting are all over the beaches with Smoky beach your best bet.
