We have a window of opportunity where the wind is not blowing its guts out. A heap of fisho’s have taken advantage and headed out today. Spotties and Spanish are about but were not in big numbers, hopefully that will change today with the southerly over the last few days. There have been a few Snapper and Pearl Perch coming in just in time for the Seabreeze Hotel Huge Fishing Comp starting this Friday the 13th at midnight with great prizes available like $500 for the Biggest Snapper and $500 for the biggest Bream definitely worth wetting a line.
Out at the FAD Dolphin Fish are in good numbers with some great fish in with the Rats. The picture below is not the fisherman but old mate was keen to get in the photo.
Fish Rock and Green Island have good Kings on the chew with some cracker fish in the mix. Small Blacks have been caught in front of the Jail with good reports of Cobia from the Jail to Hat Head. Slimies are off Jims Hole in good numbers while they have been tougher to get off the buoys. Bonito also are taking small metal slugs.
The Break Wall towards the mouth of the river has been the place to be with a few Kings and Cobia coming in with the tide. Michael Newley from the Central Coast landed 2 Cobia just under a meter while local Steve (picture below) slipped out to the buoys and picked up a few Slimies, come back and fished the wall for a cracker 15 kilo unit.
Good Flathead have been coming out of the same location with a few Shovel nose Sharks taking the bait. Schoolie Jews have been around Jerseyville and Rainbow Reach taking Worms and Plastic baits. There are still good numbers of Whiting on the sand beds around Clybucca, Kinchela and Smithtown. Moses Perch or Finger Mark Bream are in good numbers and if you haven’t tried these tasty fish have a go.
The Beaches around town have been fair with Whiting the main fair with a few Bream, Dart in the mix.
